This is an experiment that was written in 2002. There is one that preceded it called "Thoughts Precede Feelings" and two that succeed it, "Changing Thoughts by Definitions" and "Definitions of Words and What you See". All four are tied together. I'll try to post them in the near future.
This is an experiment that any person can practice at any time and place of their own choosing on themselves without anyone else knowing what the person is doing because most of the work has its roots in your brain. The experiment may appear to be kinda elementary but the results are not.
Observed Phenomenon:
I feel a certain way depending on what is said or done.
Hypothesis:
There are certain situations that cause me to feel a certain way. There are things that are said and/or done that result in me feeling a certain way when I experience those things. Logically speaking, how I feel about something is determined by how I think about that thing.
Experiment:
(Questions to ask yourself)
(1) What am I feeling right now?
(2) What was I thinking right before I start feeling this way?
(3) What was I saying right before I started feeling this way?
(4) What was I doing right before I start feeling this way?
(5) What was I hearing right before I start feeling this way?
- What was I thinking right before I was hearing what I heard?
(6) What was I looking at right before I start feeling this way?
- What was I thinking right before I was looking at what I saw?
(7) What was I touching right before I start feeling this way?
- What was I thinking right before I was toughing what I touched?
(8) What was I smelling right before I start feeling this way?
- What was I thinking right before I was smelling what I smelled?
(9) What was I tasting right before I start feeling this way?
- What was I thinking right before I tasted what I tasted?
(You may not have to get to number 9 before you have your answer. You may also have to do this repeatedly because your mind may not be used to tracking your thoughts backward. If you do not tell yourself the truth in response to asking yourself these questions you end up fooling yourself. Write down the answer to each and every question above that there is an answer to. There may be multiple things that cause you to feel a certain way.)
Recording Data:
Write down every answer to every question there is an answer to. The way the mind works it is better to write it. Your brain calculates what you are writing, what you see when you are writing it, and if you read it back out loud your brain can also calculate what you hear.
Materials Needed:
Pencil and paper and the will to become the best person you can possibly be.
Expected Results:
(1) You will realize that the mind never sleeps, even when you think you do.
(2) You will realize before everything you say and/or do there is thought.
(3) You may realize, if you trace back far enough, there is something that is conscious of being conscious that sends you messages. Some people call this God, or Jehovah, or Allah, or the Supreme Force, or the Creator. The UICCSC calls it All Power.
Afterword:
Once you realize what is is that you were thinking before you began feeling a certain way, change the thought in the same circumstance. Convince yourself that you are going to think a different thing and tell yourself what that different thing is. Practice telling yourself that different thing when you are in a situation where you feel a certain way when a specific thing is said and/or done. Before long you will be in that situation and if you think that different thing you will realize you will not have the same feeling as before. _________________ What is the reason YOU were born into a SYSTEM of INJUSTICE if not to replace it with a SYSTEM of JUSTICE? |

Additional questions I asked myself:
If you are angry about something (anger is a feeling or emotion) were you thinking about something that made you angry?
If you are sad about something (sadness is a feeling or emotion) were you thinking about something that made you sad?
If you are happy about something (happiness is a feeling or emotion) were you thinking about something that made you happy? _________________ What is the reason YOU were born into a SYSTEM of INJUSTICE if not to replace it with a SYSTEM of JUSTICE? |

I have run this counter-racism science experiment hundreds if not thousands of times using different definitions for the word "thinking".
With my current definition for the word "thinking", which is "to give verbal form to what is already known", it is highly possible to go from what is already known directly into feelings, without the use of thought at all.
It's debatable at the very least. But this is how words and their definitions work. They will give you a different perspective of how the universe works. _________________ What is the reason YOU were born into a SYSTEM of INJUSTICE if not to replace it with a SYSTEM of JUSTICE? |

I am finding this experiment very interesting and I have some questions:
-What is the significance of conducting this experiment, that can aid a victim of White Supremacy counter/combat racism White Supremacy?
-On all the questions that you have asked yourself, I have noticed that you haven't mentioned anything or something do with racism White Supremacy, why is that?
-What problem are you, specifically, trying to solve in this experiment? |

-What is the significance of conducting this experiment, that can aid a victim of White Supremacy counter/combat racism White Supremacy? |
This was an early experiment I wrote in observation of myself and how I react to being mistreated based on COLOR. It was my quest to understand what it is I'm thinking...what words I'm using to think with...that cause me to want to react to being mistreated based on COLOR in a violent manner, rather than being calm and thinking my way through a situation.

Know Thyself. I took the route of knowing and understanding, not only how the SYSTEM of racism white supremacy works and how to counter it (which are extremely important), but what is of utmost importance to me...to me...was understanding what I had become as a result of being mistreated based on COLOR my entire life.
Albert wrote: |

To learn myself (the problem of not knowing oneself). By doing so I learned that you have to be truthful with yourself, something many people do not do even though they will say they are truthful with themselves. That truth must be based on everything that is going on around you 24/7/365. And it is a horrifying truth. So horrifying that many people will not admit it to themselves.
I also learned that there is something in the universe that people tap into...not sure what to call it. But all feelings are not preceded by thoughts. There is something that is part of us that knows and some feelings that we experience comes from this entity that knows.
I rationalized, at the outset, that "thinking" is the process of giving verbal form to what is already known. And if one feels something one would have had to have something trigger their thoughts in order to feel that emotion. Which is not entirely untrue. But there is another side to that where thoughts are not required prior to feeling.
This is what I wrestled with at the time when it was widely known that you can't use emotions to control emotions. You have to figure out why something is the way that it is before you can figure out how to use it so that the result is constructive. _________________ What is the reason YOU were born into a SYSTEM of INJUSTICE if not to replace it with a SYSTEM of JUSTICE? |

How do environmental/external conditions factor into this experiment? Meaning: How much do the things outside/around us control/affect our ability to control our emotions?
I understand "Knowing thyself" but I don't understand how one can get to a level of controlling emotions without eliminating them. I may be incorrect, but it seems that being in this system of racism (white supremacy) where all things are weaponized against us, the only safe and logical thing to do is to eliminate all emotion to avoid destraction and distruction.

Good question. Your surroundings do affect your ability to control your emotions (emotive force). It's not a matter of measuring these external factors to figure out the percentage or effect they have on one's control of their emotions. In fact, it is not even "control of one's emotions" that is the goal here.
IMJvor wrote: |

Your emotions are not a bad thing. They are going to manifest. Your emotions are the result of how you feel about what you think about and/or what you don't think about.
People get into trouble because they attempt to "control" their emotions with their emotions. You'll never be able to do that.
You have to stop feeding your emotions bad thoughts. So, how do you do this? You balance emotions with logic.
Quote: |
Suggestion:
When practicing or attempting to practice counter-racism, do your best to balance emotion and logic.
Reason/Explanation:
The purest form of counter-racism comes from those who are able to successfully balance logic with emotion.
On one hand you have natural instinct (emotion) and on the other you have control (logic). You are to combine the two in harmony.
If you have one to the extreme (emotion) you'll be too unscientific. If you have the other to the extreme (logic) you'll become almost robotic (mechanical), unable to be humane.
So it's a successful combination of both.
So it's not pure logic or pure emotion. It's emotional-logic or logical-emotion. |
In other words you define the words you are using to think with and you say to yourself, this is the logic (process) I am going to follow. When someone says "this" I am going to respond by saying "this" because it is the absolute best thing that anybody can ever say when in this situation, ever. And when someone does "that" I am going to, in response, do "this" because it is the best thing anybody can do in this situation, ever. And this becomes your code.
As you begin to practice your code your mind takes over and it becomes what some people refer to as "second nature". In fact you are reprogramming how you function by rewiring your brain-computer. So it is extremely important that you are not lying to yourself at all times.
As your mind begins to take on your new code you'll find you are functioning the way you set out to function by following the process of redefining words, not lying to yourself ever, using those words to think with and practicing, practicing, practicing your code it becomes cemented in your heart (will), what the ancients refer to as the will. this is where the fruits of your labor can be seen.
On to balance with the feather (google this)...
So it's really a simple process, one where the definition of words become the steering wheel of the vehicle, the words become the vehicle, these environmental/external conditions are the road you are traveling, the brain-computer is responsible for calculating information as you travel on the road and the mind is responsible for the functioning of that vehicle (e.g. gas tank, car power chip, etc.). The heart, or will, is what you say and do as try to navigate the universe on any road. It is the action part (saying and doing) that is the result of your true beliefs. _________________ What is the reason YOU were born into a SYSTEM of INJUSTICE if not to replace it with a SYSTEM of JUSTICE? |

I’m struggling to understand HOW to begin the PROCESS of developing my own CODE as it pertains to the topic. Are there any experiments, one can perform with oneself, using the scientific method, that can aid in practicing and refining a personal code as it pertains to this topic? If there are any links to past experiments, please provide. Thank you. |

You're posting a message in a thread that is the basis for one of the experiments you're asking for.
No person knows you better than you. Try to think about what you're trying to improve or what you're trying to understand about you and why you say or do certain things. Start there.
You'll see that even in this thread I posted that not all thoughts precede feelings. That people can move from knowing to feelings, without the use of thoughts at all. I had to come to that realization based on the definition I have for what the process of "thinking" is. _________________ What is the reason YOU were born into a SYSTEM of INJUSTICE if not to replace it with a SYSTEM of JUSTICE? |
