Never say " I am a self-made person" or "I am self made this or that". Why? Because people don't have the ability to do all things at all times without the help or assistance of someone or something else. That is what "self-made" means.

People usually need the help of other people and/or things. No one can do everything at all times and in all places by themselves. You need help. Ask for help.

Keep in mind I could be incorrect.

I have always wondered what it meant to be "self-made". I have heard people say " I am a "self-made" millionare". "I am a self-made man". People don't have the ability to create "out of thin air" their physical selves, much less anything else. Something or someone else lends a helping hand. We arrange what is already here.

A male and female usually have to have sexual intercourse in order for the chance for a new being to have a chance of existing. I say usually because we live in the age of genetic engineering, so you could just donate your sperm and egg to a scientist and wala, poof! he/she will "create" a "test tube baby".

During physical existence people depend on other people to help them acquire whatever is they want whether it be food, shelter, clothing, money, status, power. No one is truly "self-made". People depend on other people to exist. No one and I mean no one does anything all by themselves without any help whatsoever.

There is no such thing as "self-made". If you hear someone say they are "self-made" this or that ask them to define what exactly do they mean they say they are "self-made".

Keep in mind I could be incorrect.

Trina,

Why post a definition of the word Self-Made in the Counter-Racism Definitionary with a definition that does not state it is not possible for a person to be "self-made" and post under the Using Words Correctly forum saying it is not possible for a person to be "self-made"?
