Suppose, a person who is a victim of racism white supremacy is employed as a secondary school teacher, and is employed to teach history as a subject, in accordance with an authorized syllabus that is provided for.
Now, as someone who is not so confused about the system of racism White Supremacy and is well aware that most of the content that is taught in schools, to non-white people, is mostly not accurate, especially content/information that deals with white people's historical interactions with non-white people.
With that said, how can that non-white person, who is, supposedly, a teacher handle such a paradoxical situation, in teaching something that they think is contradictory to their own understanding but they have to anyway, as a requirement by their employers? |

I have often thought about this question. I would explain to the children that because of how the world works they are going to have to work harder than their white counterparts to get to the same level of educational scoring. And even after they graduate all of their schooling they are going to have to work harder to find a job and to work on their job than their white counterparts. I would let them know that what that means for them while they are in school is they are going to have to learn what is in the textbooks and they are going to have to learn the truth if they wanted to really get a good education. And I would let their parents know the same. And I would give them and their parents the option of learning only what the schools require or learning that and the truth.
Whichever they chose is how I would structure the curriculum. I would do this for every year of every class of students. This way I will teach and mentor the children with the information the schools wanted them to learn, also teach them the truth and also teach them some counter-racism strategies and techniques.

Should I also expect to get fired for revealing such information, as it might be confusing to some teachers and/or parents and they might find it inappropriate been divulged to their children? |
