Understand: Pronunciation Key

To not know truth(that which is) and to be confused or deceived.

1. A confusing term that for most people means to be able to comprehend
or perceive with clarity.

Compare the meaning(s) of the word understand with words like under*developed, under*fed, under*funded. See if you can follow THE LOGIC .

When you say you are under fed you may be implying that you haven't had enough food.

When you say you are under funded you may be implying that you don't have enough money or other resource(s).

However, when you say I understand how that person feels.

You may be implying that you comprehend that person's feeling or
feelings.

Maybe words that start with Under should not be used.

What is your opinion? My inquiring mind wants to know.

It appears you are using the word "understand" as if it is two words put together...that have two meanings...a compound word.

If you are using the word understand as a compound word (such as under-developed, or under-paid)...

What is the definition of "under"?

What is the definition of "stand"?

Virtual_GOD,

Thanks for pointing that out to me. I decided to drop that altogether because understand is usually not used as compound word even though it could be. I could see that it was confusing. I am supposed to be attempting to clear up the confusion. I have attempted to refine my examples.
