Been thinking about some definitions to a few words I use frequently.

Is belief the same as suspicion?

Is there a difference in beliving something to be true instead of suspecting something to be true?

Right off the bat, I can say that they both equal = I DON'T KNOW.

Because if you know something to be true, what's the point of beliving or suspecting it to be true?

When you KNOW something or all-things, Faith, belief, suspicion are all pretty fuckin' useless.

But anyway, here's where I'm at:

When I think about "suspecting" or "suspicion" I think about hypothesis, or a "scientific guess". An approximation, that could be incorrect.

When I think about beliving or belief, I think of a strong feeling one hopes to be true.

In other words, it would probably be much easier for a person to change their suspicion before they changed a belief.

But I could be incorrect.

Any thoughts?

What is your definition for each?

I started the thread with hopes of getting some additional data or ideas to help me with some definitons.

This is what I have so far.

Suspect [n]: Any living person.

Suspicion/Suspect[v]: An approximation and/or guess due to a lack of Knowledge and/or Information.

Belief/Believe/:[v] A suspicion one accepts as truth.

Any thougts?

My thoughts on what these definitions SHOULd be:

Suspect [n]: Any person - I add - who is reasonably capable of an action

Suspicion/Suspect[v]: An approximation and/or guess due to a lack of Knowledge, Data, and/or information - I'll change slightly closer to UICCS - any query used to reveal truth through the use of truth to produce justice and correctness in order to foster/manifest peace

Belief/Believe/:[v] A suspicion one accepts as truth. -i would simplify this to - the unquestionable definition of one's charactor through thought, action and speach

I suspect that is close. I think this is a conversation for the Using Words Correctly forum until a definition is ready to be posted for both words. then the definition for both words can be posted and refined by suggestions made by others or the person that posts the definitions.
