Honest:
An expression of what or how a person feels.
Reason/Explanation:
To be "Honest" means "to express what or how someone feels".
Honest does not mean Truth. To be Honest does not mean to tell the Truth. It is always incorrect to use the word honest and the word Truth as if they both mean the same.
To do so may lead many people to to believe that people who are always honest always tell the truth. Thus some people may be lead to believe that honest people always tell the truth.
How a person feels is not an indicator of truth. A person who expresses to you how they feel about racism may not be telling you the truth about what racism is and how it works, but, at the same time may feel that they are.
It is best, therefore, to use the word "honest" to mean "an expression of what or how someone feels" and only to mean "an expression of what or how someone feels". The word "honest" should never be used to mean truth. _________________ What is the reason YOU were born into a SYSTEM of INJUSTICE if not to replace it with a SYSTEM of JUSTICE? |

Thank you for that definition.
Many times people preface their answer to a question I ask with: " To be honest with you..."
OR
"To be perfectly honest with you..."
Racists suspects often use this technique to avoid providing a "yes" or "no" answer because non white people are often confused when faced with extra words.
EXAMPLE:
Question: "did you attend the staff meeting yesterday?"
Answer: "to be perfectly honest with you, nothing really happens at those meetings, I just submit my reports at the end of the month"
Your question was not answered, they just told you how they feel and answered a different question.
When ever you don't get your question answered, ask a follow up question until you do get an answer.
Just because an answer is "honest" doesn't mean its the truth.
